lake bell's hollywood home

Friday, August 31, 2012

Lake Bell is one of my favorite actresses - she's extremely talented, hilarious, gorgeous, and it turns out she has great style as well. Vogue did a lovely tour of her West Hollywood home, and all of the images of her house are so beautiful and inspiring. Check out some of my favorite photos from the tour, and read the full article here.

tailgating season | game day mix + match

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Yet another reason I love fall-- football. And today, college football season is officially here! One of the best parts of college football season, at least at my alma mater, Oklahoma State, is tailgating. A great part of tailgating is finding the perfect outfit to show your school spirit in. I know for my non-Oklahoma State readers this compilation is very specific, but hopefully everyone can get some inspiration for fall style - especially in the wonderful colors of orange and black. Go pokes!

nobody likes you when you're 23

Thursday, August 23, 2012

today is my 23rd birthday... and as the classic Blink 182 song "What's My Age Again?" states, nobody likes you when you're 23. Hopefully that won't turn out to be the truth. :) I thought to celebrate I would do a little round up of some beautiful birthday cards from my favorite pretty paperies.

give me fall style

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

It's back to school time, and in my book, that means it's fall. Fall is far and away my favorite season, for many reasons, one of which being that I absolutely love the style that comes along with it. The layers, the colors, the whole enchilada. Check out some looks for this season that are totally gorgeous.

I can't believe we're already halfway through August... which means it's almost time for (the best season,) fall! Happy Wednesday!

1. I love all of Blair Ritchey's accessories, and this Leather Tassel Keychain is the perfect thing to add a little flair to your keys.
2. Anything with a monogram is great, obviously. These simple monogrammed Euro shams are a great way to add a little personalization to your bedding.
3. I've been wanting a pair of Warby Parker frames for a while now, and their Winston in Old Fashioned Fade is absolutely ideal.
4. These imbari organic towels with stripes from ABC Home are lovely with their herringbone pattern and simple flatweave.
5. How gorgeous is this Boomerang Chair by Hivdt & Moelgaard? I die.

coffee table love

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

There is a quote from Henry Ward Beecher that I love and is very applicable to decorating and styling. "Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house." I dream of stacks on stacks on stacks of coffee table books filling my house on tables, desks, shelves... basically any surface. Here are 7 of the coffee table books that are at the top of my wishlist, as well as some beautiful examples of ways to style them.

Black & White (and a bit in between) by Celerie Kemble // Decorate by Holly Becker // Design*Sponge at Home by Grace Bonny // cupcakes and cashmere by Emily Schuman // The Well-Lived Life by Dominique Browning // Hue by Kelly Wearstler // Annie Leibovitz At Work by Annie Leibovitz

August Lonny // Michelle Adams' Bedroom

Monday, August 13, 2012

Once the excitement of the Blogger Style feature wore down a little bit (still hasn't worn off completely), I took some time this weekend to actually read through the new issue of Lonny. As I've said before, I absolutely love Lonny editor-in-chief Michelle Adams' style. This month, she showcases her gorgeous bedroom in her NYC highrise. I adore her simple yet striking color palette, and her creative "custom canopy" bed. Check out the full feature here.

Lonny Mag // Blogger Style

Friday, August 10, 2012

Lonny Magazine has always been a go-to resource for me for interior design inspiration, and I always greatly anticipate their new issues. This month, I am being featured in their Blogger Style column, and I could not be more excited. Seriously, I'm over the moon, grinning from ear to ear. Check out their newest issue (I think it might be their best yet), and check out the hat tip to Cheers to the Good Life on page 210.

jamie meares of furbish studio

Thursday, August 9, 2012

I've recently become a huge fan of Jamie Meares, owner of Furbish Studio in North Carolina. I'm also obsessed with her darling blog, I Suwannee. This week, she was featured on two of my favorite blogs. The Glitter Guide gave a lovely tour of her home, and The Everygirl used her design and styling abilities to demonstrate how to style a nightstand. Check out a few of the photos from these features and you'll see why I'm crazy about her style and taste.

While in NYC, I saw this piece in an art gallery window in Soho. I fell in love with it and looked up the artist, James Wolanin. He has several amazing pieces and is extremely talented. I love his use of contrast and bright colors in each painting.

NYC

Monday, August 6, 2012

I'm finally back home after a wonderful week in the Big Apple. I was lucky enough to get to go around and see some of the amazing things the city has to offer.

One of my favorite things about NYC is all of the amazing architecture, such as the W. R. Grace Building (left) // I definitely didn't want to leave the 74 degree weather.

I really liked this painting at the CB2 store // I spent most of my time in the Decoration and Design Building, which was very inspiring.

We went to this amazing park called The Highline. It was built on a historic freight rail line above the streets of Manhattan's West Side, and it has a very cool design.

We had dinner at a little cafe in Bryant Park - it's such a cute area!

Grand Central Station! I was picturing the final scene of Friends With Benefits minus the flash mob the whole time.

I was obsessed with this great coffeehouse, Stumptown Coffee Roasters. How amazing is that light fixture above the counter?

That's me on the steps of the New York Public Library - such a beautiful building! // I walked by Gray's Papaya hot dog stand which is where Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks eat in a scene in You've Got Mail!

The store windows in SoHo are so lovely. // I loved this piece hanging in the window of a cute little art gallery.

I stopped at Macaron Cafe to pick up some of these darling and delicious macarons.

I'd say it was a pretty successful trip, and I got to see some really great things.  I can't wait till I get to go back, hopefully very soon!

Cheers,
Ellie
