I know I just spent a whole post blabbing about how much I love subway tile + farmhouse sinks, so it shouldn't be too much of a shock that this latest installment of my Room Pick column features both of those things. I'm head over heels for this kitchen, which is in the home of Desiree Ashworth of Decor de Provence. The mint green subway tile is unique, and I can't get over the gorgeous marble countertops. I also love the use of rustic wood and industrial fixtures that juxtapose the bright white shelving and mint tile.
After reviewing the images on my Pinterest board devoted to kitchens, I've come to realize that I absolutely adore three things in a kitchen: 1) farmhouse sinks, 2) open shelving, 3) subway tile. If I can somehow have all three of those elements in my kitchen someday, I will be a very happy girl. I just love the feel that farmhouse sinks give to a space, I love how clean subway tile can make a kitchen look, and I love the Country French style of open shelving. Check out some of my favorite kitchens that incorporate any or all of these elements.
Happy Valentine's Day! Oddly enough this is one of my favorite holidays. I know everyone says it's fake, made up by Hallmark, and that you don't need a specific holiday to celebrate your love for someone. But why not? Who cares? So you buy your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/best friend/sibling/mom some candy and spend some quality time with them... why is that so bad? Maybe a holiday to remember all of the love we have in our lives is exactly what we need.
1. Cheesy? YEP. Cliche? YEP. Girly/sappy/unrealistic? PROBABLY. I DON'T CARE I WANT TO SEE IT.
2. Seriously need this simple baseball hat from Madewell for those mornings when my bangs just aren't having it.
3. Super last minute V-day card. Because love bites, right?
4. Why wouldn't you need a Parks & Rec Colouring Book? There are also ones devoted to Jon Hamm and 90s Pop Stars if you're feeling extra 'colourful'.
5. This isn't the first time I've wished for a pair of Frye boots, but, like, I need these.
Despite what this adorable picture might suggest, this is not a Valentine's Playlist, but really just what I've been listening to lately. Some of it is old, some is new, and some of it is new to me. Give it a listen and enjoy. Find it on Spotify here.
As you may be well aware, Miranda Kerr is a Victoria's Secret model, and although she does have a rockin' bod, that's not why I think of her as a
style icon. She's a style icon because the gorgeous wife and mother of
Orlando Bloom's (sigh) child always looks incredibly put-together and
chic anytime she steps out, as evidenced by these shots of her. I love
how she manages to keep her style so understated, yet classic and flawless.
happy friday! The best day of the week is finally here. It's also the
first day of February which is *somewhat* exciting. I'm looking forward
to this month and am hoping to really implement a few personal -er,
financial- goals that I set for myself at the beginning of the year so
we'll see how that goes! 2013 really has been a great year so far and I
feel like it can only get better at this point. I hope you all have a
lovely weekend planned, filled with fun and/or relaxation. I personally
am looking forward to watching the Superbowl Beyonce (and the Puppy Bowl, obviously) on Sunday - it should be amazing.
