I thought that I would share some artwork that I really enjoy doing - I've been doing these pen and ink drawings for friends as gifts for a few years now, and I especially like doing them for the many couple friends I have that get married. I try to put in personal quotes, phrases, and inside jokes that are meaningful to the couple to make it more special for them. Here are 3 that I've done in the last year or two -- these were all for some really special friends and I hope they enjoy having them as much as I enjoyed making them. I've done several others, but some of the images for those ended up on a computer that crashed (yay) so I still need to go back and try to regather those images. I think these ones were all about 10x13 and then I have them frame and matted, so these images are just the scans of the artwork. I also posted about one that I did two years ago here.
The scan cut the sides of this one off a little bit but I still love it.
Here's this one, framed
I love doing these, so if you're ever interested in having a custom gift made, let me know!
I went to Chicago with a few friends over the week of 4th of July, and it was a total blast. I'd been there a few times before, but not for this long so we really got to do a lot. Chicago is a really fun city, and it's hard not to compare it to New York, but I would say it's definitely a little slower-paced and has a certain Midwestern charm.
Luckily we got there right in time for the (last) USA World Cup game, and Soldier Field (where da Bears play) was having a watch party. It was a really cool venue and basically a free for all for the hundreds (thousands?) of people that showed up.
Big Star in Wicker Park was definitely a highlight. Amazing outdoor patio and amazing tacos. They didn't take reservations so we had to wait a little bit but it was definitely worth it.
Homeslice in Lincoln Park was another adorable restaurant. We went there for lunch for some really great pizza and a lovely patio atmosphere.
After wandering around Wrigleyville for a bit, we popped into a place called Cheesie's - where the menu almost exclusively consists of grilled cheese. I got the Mac which had mac and cheese inside and came with tomato soup dipping sauce... needless to say, it was dope.
I'm a sucker for adorable coffeehouses, and Heritage General Store, which specializes in amazing coffee and custom bicycles was certainly adorable. Loved their aesthetic.
Made it over to Jayson Home which was a true delight. I could honestly just hole up in that store and be happy forever. Everything in there is just lovely.
Baby angel vintage staffordshire dogs. I wanted all of them.
Went on down to Millennium Park which is always fun.
After Millennium Park we stopped at Bridge House Tavern on the north side of the river. They had good food and a fantastic view of the river and downtown - highly recommend.
